Go Get the Help You Need

Go Get the Help You Need

On Wednesday, Bella Bear's Senior Pet Sanctuary welcomed two new residents: 13-year-old Toby, a sweet Chihuahua, and 12-year-old Wheezy, a beautiful black cat. Their owner is a combat veteran who is courageously seeking help through the VA as she faces a serious mental health crisis.

Due to her own medical challenges, as well as the pets medical conditions, she could no longer provide the care Toby and Wheezy deserve.

That decision was not made because she doesn't love them.

It was made because she loves them so deeply.

Before she left, I made her two promises.

The first was that if there ever comes a day when she feels healthy, stable, and ready to care for them again, Toby and Wheezy will be waiting for her. They are her family, and she is welcome to bring them home whenever she is able.

The second promise was that if that day never comes, Toby and Wheezy will spend the rest of their lives here, safe, loved, comfortable, and surrounded by compassionate care.

She is also welcome to visit them whenever she wants. Their bond doesn't end because life became difficult.

This is what Bella Bear's Senior Pet Sanctuary exists to do.

We step in when life overwhelms the people who love them most. We provide a safety net for elderly pets while offering hope, compassion, and dignity to the humans who are fighting battles that no one else can see.

Sometimes it means telling a veteran, "Go get the help you need. Your beloved companions will be safe until you're ready."

This is a very specialized mission, caring for very special animals and supporting very special people.

If you believe every senior pet deserves security, and every family deserves compassion during life's hardest moments, please consider supporting our mission.
